Jonathan Kam’s practice focuses on corporate and individual insurance coverage claims on behalf of policyholders against health plans and insurance carriers. He has represented plaintiffs in civil litigation in both state and federal courts in a variety of cases concerning medical and legal malpractice, professional and long-term disability, life insurance, home and automobile liability, property protection, bad faith, and personal injury.
Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan served as a post bar law clerk in the general counsel’s offices for Delicato Family Vineyards in Napa Valley, CA., a long-standing family-owned winery facing complex legal issues posed by a sophisticated business involving sales in the US and throughout the world. There his keen knowledge and appreciation of the wine industry was a valuable asset as he served to defend and enforce a global trademark portfolio, as well as assisting executives and a robust marketing department. Before that, he served as a contract attorney for Girard Gibbs, LLP where he worked on a $400M Ponzi case on behalf of defrauded investors.
While a law student, he worked as Judicial Extern (Law Clerk) for Judge A. James Robertson, II at the San Francisco Superior Court supporting a complex civil litigation department on a variety of cases ranging from class action law suits to unlawful detainers.
Mr. Kam is a member of the California Bar Association Litigation Section. He earned his J.D. from UC Hastings College of Law with a concentration in civil procedure and with extensive experience in Trial Procedure and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He also served as Deputy Chair of Hastings’ internationally recognized Negotiation and Mediation Team. Mr. Kam is an International INADR Mediation and Negotiation Champion (2015). Additionally, he is a graduate of University of Oregon, Eugene with a double major in B.S. Political Science and Sociology with Honors (2010) and is a member of Alpha Kapa Delta Honors Society. Mr. Kam is a member of the Olympic Club of San Francisco.
Jonathan’s other interests include golf, fine dining and mixology, weightlifting, backpacking, and hiking. Notably, he has traversed the Na Pali coastline Kalalau trail in Kauai, HI, America’s 9th most dangerous hiking trail.
