A letter from Charlie Cochran

Many of you visiting our site may be here because you’ve known me for decades as a friend. I may have been your teacher, or perhaps your Mayor or Councilperson. If you’ve lived in Sonoma County for years, the chances are we’ve met. This is my home, from birth. My Grandfather, “Pop Shand”, was the janitor for the old Courthouse. It’s a special source of pride for me that the Santa Rosa office of KCEH is located today on Old Courthouse Square. Why should any of this matter? It matters because when your attorney walks through the door of a courtroom, he or she brings reputation, trust, relationships, wisdom and opportunity along the way. Each of these characteristics takes on more depth and more impact when the community you serve is the community you love. Do you clearly understand the methods and motivations the firm that represents you embodies? Let me share some specifics that we believe define the difference between some success and great success. At KCEH every case is important, and every case receives what we’ve identified to be the single most important element of legal success – appropriate preparation. The opposition doesn’t take seriously an opponent they don’t believe is prepared to try the case. Our clients feel confidence in a case positioned to succeed. A clear message to the opposing party is your readiness for trial. You have our pledge that each individual at KCEH will deliver the highest quality legal services available. We’ll provide evidence of our efforts in a multitude of client-oriented actions, such as flexible office hours, prompt response to your concerns, and keeping you informed and involved in the status of your case. Take advantage of our FREE consultation today and begin the process to a successful outcome. We look forward to representing you!

Mr. Peterson represents corporate and individual policyholders seeking coverage and bad faith damages under nearly any kind of insurance policy, including primary and excess general liability policies, professional liability policies, long term disability policies, life insurance policies, accidental death and dismemberment policies, home and automobile liability and property protection, as well as uninsured/underinsurance motorist protection.

In late 2015, Nicholas assisted a policyholder in obtaining an award of over $1.35 Million against his insurance company in an underinsured motorist arbitration, where the client had been struck by a vehicle while a pedestrian in a sidewalk in Oakland, California.

Mr. Peterson has also assisted clients in pursuing claims in both federal and state court related to various commercial disputes, contract matters, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, elder and dependent adult abuse, product liability, intellectual property and employment disputes. His clients include patients, doctors, architects, engineers, hotel owners, and financial advisors, as well as parents, children and loved ones of the deceased and injured.

Mr. Peterson is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and serves as a co-chair of its Barristers Club’s Insurance Practice Section. He is also a member of the Northern California chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Peterson attended law school here in San Francisco at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law where he was a Senior Editor with the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly and graduated with Cum Laude honors and a concentration in Civil Litigation in 2012. Johnson at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of California, San Jose (2012).

Interestingly, the practice of law is a “second career” for Mr. Peterson. From 1994 through 2008, he performed and recorded a number of albums as a drummer, percussionist and singer with numerous bands in his home town of Seattle, Washington. In fact, in his last music project before attending law school, he recorded an album of original material with a well-known Seattle band that achieved “Gold” status in the United States, both “Gold” and “Platinum” status in the United Kingdom and was the #1 Album of the Year in 2008 for National Public Radio (NPR), Mojo Magazine and Pitchfork Magazine. To date, Nick still enjoys playing around town and providing instruction to other budding drummers whenever he gets the opportunity.
